There are two or three good Hotels in the Town, the charge about 2 to 2½ dollars for dinner. A long cheroot is manufactured here & smoked principally by the Negros men & women. Nineteen Twentieths of the people of the island are Negros & 'darkies' of different shades. The negros appear to be a pretty [[?]] race, full of fun & talk, eternally rowing each other, but seldom come to blows.
