Friday May 20. 11 am. Left Galveston in Co. with Mess. P. & M. 15 miles brought us about of the 'Three trees'. The first is a clump of [[?in]] - the two others are singles ones. 15 miles brought us to the Pass. Ferried across to the island. St Luis - rather depopulated - [unclear] [unclear] ferry to the main 12 miles to [unclear] put up for the night - here there was an attack upon a Mission Fort- which was taken Mr M was one of the [Stony?] party. Saturday 21 8 am. Ferried across the Brazor to Quintana. This appears to be a flourishing county. Live oak is cutting up the River for the English Govt. River has deep water, continuing along the coast come to the River Bernard dist 9 miles . Here is a bad bar to 20 great width of River. It is now for the first time a pebble or so is seem & a little alluvial rocks on the banks - To here& further on the Coast is of sand - very few shells - & large quantities of drift wood which forms a sort of barrier for the sand that is blown up by the S. & S.E. winds & this extends to[ | Friday May 20. 11 am.
