but she too was better when we left -- Mrs Tompkins & Bell are well & "progressing" Mrs Kinkhead was well when we returned, but I understand from Mr K-- that Mrs Rokholl, his sister in San Fr. is dead. This news arrives by the last mail - -- Mrs Bothwell was also aunt & protector to Miss Bronson, who is most at Kinkheads -- I have not seen them since the receipt of the sad news -- in fact I have not seen any of the Ladies since our return -- have been busy & will be until the Mail goes tomorrow -- the "Newberry" leaves tomorrow & the "Constitution" the 15th inst.
