Col. R.H. Brown. this day received orders from Sub. Dist- Head. Quarters assigning the companies who had been under his command on the expedition to stations on the Overland Stage Road. Before leaving camp where the Indians fired on us we sent trains to Camp Wheaton under charge of Lieut Dye A.A.Q.M. with Captain Clark and 25 men of the 12th Mo. Cav. for the purpose of bringing the Government stores and property left their in charge of Captain Griffith 6th U.S. Vols. when the command took up our line of march for Cottonwood.
