Started about 7 AM and marched until 8 P.M. stoping 1/2 hour for dinner. Came to Emmitsburg (23 miles) raining all day wnet to a house to buy some bread. The people's name was waters, a son was a student at Carlisle & a Θ𝝙X. Robert Arman lives in town, is a Dr.They said he could not sell us any but wanted us to stay for supper. Got a supper found they would not take anything for it.
