[Note: the year is likely 1847, according to an online date calculator; Sunday Sept 19 occurred in 1847 and 1852 -- she was married in 1852, not teaching then] Sep Sept 19 Sab. Went to meeting all day. Had an unusually interesting meeting this afternoon. Some of the professors seemed awaking to duty a prayer meeting is appointed for. Thursday evening I do hope it will be well attended and do good. I have occasion to day to lament my coldness and unconcern Oh how can I be thus and know that there is winging me away to my eternal home. Sept 23 Attended a prayer meeting this evening. The First I have attended since I left home and the first that has been held here for a long time. I hope it will be continued and do good. I do hope it will do me good for my heart is very hard. I am surprised at myself when I think how little I love that savior who has died for me. 24th. This day finishes my first term. Mr. Knapp - his wife - sister with her daughter - came in. Yesterday Evan Collins one of the inspectors came in. I felt as if I would like to know their opinion of the school. I hope I labor not to gain praise of man but to do my duty in the light of my Creator. Sept 29 - vacation commences. This is my last day before vacation.
