Frida February 8th 1850.
Friday February 8th 1850.
Fair.  Nina NW. air sunny and delightful. How different is this winter from the last I spent.  No cold - no snowsno shiverings. no dread of leaving a comfortable bed in the mornings.  Now in February, the heat of the sun is annoying during labor.  Average of dirt 45 cts per bush.  I worked hard for $24 to day. but our holes served us a trick.  Mighing an amalgam it reported only $19.35.

     I had a good time working to day in thinking over times past. and in building castles for the future.  Memory and Imagination painted one scenes with warm colors.  I had an unpleasant dream last night. My camp bed gets rather hard before morning. I had some very pleasant dreams while I was sick.  It seems most of my pleasant dreams occur while I am unwell my unpleasant ones during health.  A pleasant drream does me more good in this lonely land them family at home.  How quiet and happy the motions - on awaking from a pleasant dream.  For a moment the ideas and scenes of the dream are realities to aroused consciousness.  We sink to sleep again wishing to catch the broken thread.  Loosing ourselves in the hope to see the same agreeable things -

At San DIego intermitents prevail place good for consumption patients. at Monterey no intermitents.. not good for consumption at San Francisco. intermitents again again a good climate for consumption.
