Bigtree & several other Indians called at our Lodgeings, being seated, bigtree mentioned that when they were at new york, some time past, some friends requested they would make enquiry who were the Original owners of the Land about Hopewell in Virginia | Bigtree & several other Indians called at our Lodgeings, being seated, bigtree mentioned that when they were at new york, some time past, some friends requested they would make enquiry who were the Original owners of the Land about Hopewell in Virginia __ They said it appear'd to them that those persons were incorporated with the six Nations, and therefore any presents that might be given would be best applied to be distributed among them at large __ It appears to be the united sense of friends now attending the Treaty, that the mode of distribution as above proposed will be the most eligible in the present situation of things; This day I received for the first time some intelligence from home, by my Brother Isaac & Daughter Sally, the most of which was agreeable |
