1794 WD 10th mo. 28 3 Observed that their Chief mentioned a rusty spot in the chain of friendship which was very deep and in order to brighten this spot their Chief had proposed a new line between them & the United States _ to begin where the Alegahena River crosses the north line of Pennsylvania thence to french Creek below the fork of Creek thence to the forks of Muskingum thence down the Muskingum to the Ohio this he apprehended would move every cloud of difficulty__ But the apprehended this claim was within the western Indians and as they had from time to time acquiesed in the Treaty at fort stanwux they might reasonably suppose satisfied &c &c.

  He then had refrence to the triangle on lake Erie purchased of Congress by the state of Pennsylvania, and showed them that it was included in the land ceded by them to the United States at the treaty of fort stanwex &c for which the State had paid them 2000 Dollars at the  Treaty at Muskingum in confirmation of the Title and that Butler & Gibson the Commissioners at the last mentioned treaty expected the East Side to the triangle would have extended to Buffalo Creek, But that not being the case, he now offered  to cede back to them all the Land between the Triangle and a line running due South from near the Mouth of the said Creek to the Pennsylvania Line, which comprehends 3 or 4 times as much land as is included in the triangle, and that the new line might run thus_ To begin at Johnsons  Landing place about 4 miles wide till it comes within 4 miles of Buffalo Creek, thence to the said Creek at one mile distant from the mouth thence along Lake Erie to the aforesaid Triangle, bounded on the West by the said Triangle, on the south by Pennsylvania.
