(you never are)  for deciding to give up all travel. If I go to Lakeland or Lake Placid, or some little trip this summer, that will be all I care to risk. In fact, since I've given up the idea of going, I am quite happy to think I'm enjoying myself so much at home. Of course there is always the cleaning and sweeping and weeding, but none of it is unbearable. So why worry. Brought home from p.o. a new book to read. That Man in the White House - an attack against the conspirators who are trying to discredit the New Deal. That's another thing - if I went, I'd have to have the address changed of all the stuff I take, and have the annoyance of missing some of it, or not getting it until time to come home again, etc. etc. We'll hope I can go before I'm too blind & deaf and lame to enjoy myself - and if I can't, why I'll be too old enjoy it then anyway, so what's the difference? Wrote a nasty letter to the editor of the Tampa Times yesterday because he reviled Earl Browder. I've felt better ever since, Probably he won't print it though. The holocaust in Hartford was terrible. Herbert & Vadine not
