It was not only "After much deliberation", consultation and advice with his Reverend Brethren in Boston and its vicinity; that "he concluded to return" & "resettle" in Deerfield. But his piety led him to look to that God when he served for counsel, direction and guidance, on the occasion by prayer & fasting. This was his course when first invited to take the charge of the Church and congregation in Deerfield, in May 1686: So in his resettlement, he says, "he pursuit the same course, as he believed on the former occasion, + Rev.
