stopped at; the Evening was beautiful indeed & after supper we sat ourselves under a clump of live-oaks when Capt. H. gave us, an account of his being made prisoner at San Antonio by General Woll, the sufferings experienced by himself & some 30-60 fellow-captives on their journey to the castle of Perote in Mexico, the inhuman treatment whilst there, his escape with Mr Morgan from prison, their difficulties & dangers ere they reached Vera Cruz, their getting on board an American vessel in that port bound for New Orleans & safe arrival in Texas when the gallant Captain [[over?]] more clasped & dear wife & fond children to his bosom. He is now presently attending to his plantation on the Colorado River.
