written across top We are sure that papers look pretty on the kitchen, though it did not show very well in the piece. Thank you for sending it we can imagine how it looks some we have no fear it will be soiled before we see it, if we go home this summer. Have you also painted the kitchen? if so what color? We wish when you write next to Pierce and Owen just tell them about Galesburg and if they wish to face the western country this is the place. Sarah, I wish I could give you some idea how pleasant this spring has made this place everything looks so green. We have had a great deal of rain but today's loveliness leaves the 'past to bury its dead'. The streets are muddy otherwise the rainy past is forgotten. We hope Anna will continue to improve. Love to Nellie, Georgie and all. We will try to send likenesses next time.

Oh dear, dear, what shall I say? - nothing - so please imagine it all and make me as grateful as you please. - I am glad you and Eddie are pleased and am only sorry you have not been able to visit Mary Kellogg, it will not be so easy to go to Rome. I wish you could visit your friends more, it would do them and you good, but the position of "only daughter at home" will, perhaps, not admit of it. Wouldn't we like to
