At 6 am an engine took us in hand & away we went. Got up early to see Cañon of Arkansas. Splendid. About noon we left Arkansas & entered the Marshall pass. Not so fine as to scenery, but engineering magnificent, pass 10,500 feet above sea level - highest [[words scratched out]] RR pass in the U.S. From top can see train on west side apparently under our feet - got up & down all safe
