Dear Sis, Davie reached here safely and he is now writing a letter home which I will send with this. We all are glad to see him especially as he comes fresh (underlined) from you- for to tell you the truth we are getting to have quite a longing for the sight of you. It does seem that you are making an -well- unconsionably - long visit down there and I have come to the conclusion that you are such a poor visitor (underlined) that it takes your friends a long time to get a little good out of you or else you are such an excellent one that the more they get the more they want (underlined)-- which is it? I need not tell you any thing about the draft for you have doubtless hear what dreadful times

Morning-It was pretty late before we got to bed last night. I fear Davie was pretty tired. Sarah showed him to his bed before Eddie was ready to go. I think Pierce staid all night tho' I am not sure. I came to bed and am now writing in my bedroom. Pierce had just returned from Boomille. He says he got his ride this way- he saw a man with three calves in his wagon and he asked him if he wanted a calf- on his answering yes P. jumped in and told him to drive on. You can imagine the laugh &c. Eddie is ready. Jennie
