The next greatest Sin is that prohibited in the Second precept, the worshipg God by images, this is not a Sin So heinous & aggravated as the Sin forbidden in the first, altho is is a great Sin, havg awful penalties annexed to the commission of it, visitg the inigruities of the father upon the children to the 3 & 4 generation of them that this hate God & cast off the pure spiritual worship, commanded by reason & by revelation. The Sin forbidden in the Second preceps bidden in the third & the 3d greater than the Sin against the fourth; & the same gradation is also observable in the arrangement of the precepts of the Second table of the law, or may be noticed in its proper place.

 Let us now consider the Sins forbidden in this commandment & the duties imolied & commanded.
 Thou shalt not make unto the self any graven images   To illustrate this divine precept by God's assistance:  I propose to speak
1. of the Nature of that idolatrous worship prohibited
2. The nature of that true & acceptable worship & homage, which God has appointed
3. To explain the phrase, visiting the iniquity of of the fathers, unto the third & fourth generation of them that hate me.
4. The motives to animate as to the duty of maintaining the true worship of God, as he has appointed in his word. Showg mercy unto thousands of that love me & keep my commandts
