Oct. 17 the U.S. Army [[unclear]] 4 Soldiers and one Indian Policeman were killed and a number of soldiers and several civilliians was wounded.  He was noted as a man who never did any physical labor and lived in a home built by the government by direction of Indian Commissioner Jonas.
On the same day a young Indian known as [Map-Koonce?] or Teddy Chatfield  died of Tuberculosis at the age of 18 years. He returned from the [[unclear]] Indian school in January 1909
