Post. and as there are none of the 18th here and no present opportunity of joining them it is probable Mr Wood & I will be assigned to the command of some recruits for the 5th Infty. Procure board at the Post mess Room, where most of the officers and many clerks board, at $1.00 per day. Find at this post one Batt. 13th Infty under orders for the upper Missouri; a few of the 2nd Cavalry, under orders for Fort Riley &c; Two companies 3rd infantry permanent garrison; 64 recruits for the 5th Infantry.
