26th Aug - Marched at 3am. & camp on Laramie River about 30 miles above Fort Laramie, distance 26 miles. Aug 27th Camp on the Chug 22 miles saw the first horse - not connected with the army- that I have seen for more than two years and it was a ranch occupied by one man.
