of a meeting. My only resource is the shady side of the Barn, where, upon a work bench, I have my books & paper spread before me and I am really tolerably contented. It is a very warm day and the sun shines some but the Barn is by no means close, the logs of which it is composed touching each other only at the corners, and the cool breeze draws through finely.

 I suppose you, as well as my Mother, may be a little anxious about my health; but I do not feel at all apprehensive about it; and beside am under no obligations to remain, and shall leave a once if I find the Climate affects me.   I have purposely delayed, or refrained from entering into any permanent arrangements, upon those very grounds.

 I left Chester Monday last, arriving that night at the place where our Head quarters is, or is to be, Mount Hawkins Perry Co.  Or rather that is the name of the nearest Post Office.  The Place is "Locust Hill"   The next day arrived here, or at our starting point upon the North bank of Muddy river, and have now been at work four days, pleasantly and successfully.

 I ought to have sent this letter sooner, as I am getting extremely anxious to hear from you: but thought I would wait until I could get upon the ground.  When I got here I found I knew no more than before: but have been very much busy in getting business started and have had no opportunity to send to the Post Office.  How long it is since I have heard from you!  And the days will seem long now till I can get a letter from you.

  If I do not make satisfactory permanent arrangements here, before a long time, you may expect to see me again in New Hampshire.
