I very much approve of their decision to establish themselves in a house -- their happiness cannot but be promoted by it and as to the future let them wait & trust that a way suitable & desirable will be opened for them. When Isaac & Nettie get settled here perhaps we shall draw the rest of the family too. I must tell you that our fence is at last completed & looks well but the rubbish is not cleared up - would have been had the doctor remained well. While the new fence was making & the old one taken away or boarded up somewhat back at the house some unruly cows broke in & entirely destroyed all our corn (or five {{unclear}}) squashes, beets &c. making [[unclear]] havoc - it was while the doctor was sick, I heard the cows, waked Mary & sent her to drive them out about three oclock. I went out in my nightcape & dressing gown & helped her fasten up the gate. Our grapes in the grape house are coming on finely: our sweet apples are ripe now but they are smaller than usual &
