Dear Mother We begin to be quite anxious to hear from Bangor; it is two weeks since we have received any word from Lucy  I hope at least that she is no worse  the old saying is 'no new is good news' may it prove so.

I have myself been nurse for the last ten days.  the doctor has been very sick for a week past bilious remittent fever.  he was not well for several days  much pain in his back & limbs but took no remedies hoping each day to be better till taking a ride to Oberlin & coming home after it grew cold at night he was taken with a sudden chill followed by a severe attack of fever .. the day he went to Oberlin he felt much better  wanted to go very much to obtain Prof. Monroe to preach for us (Mr. Wilbur was gone) the exertion was too much  he had regular paroxysms of fever every alternate day until last Friday since which time he has
