Elyria Oct 10th/54. Dear Mother Your small slips of a letter is I believe yet unanswered so to I must endeavor to show you that I am thankful for that little in hope to get more next time. Lucy's last short letter I was very glad to receive. I appreciate the difficulty of her finding time more to write frequent long letters, but I do want to hear from you often. I am away off cannot step over and see how you are all getting along. I feel anxious especially on account of little Persy I have feared for him ever since we left there and I am not without fears still that I shall ever see his sweet little face again. Lucy did not speak of her own state of health in hers nor of your particularly I am afraid she will permanently injure her own health by her anxieties cares & labours night and day. We rejoice with you all that Eliab & Mollie are so favored & happy 'Affections spring not from the dust' neither do our special joys & blessings. I hope Mollie will find time to write to me before long every particular in respect to the incipient character & conduct of the new comer my niece Energine will be very interesting. Please some of you write something about the brothers too. I hope I shall to day receive a letter from some of you I want to hear often & particularly of Persie's
