Y. where he is preaching so the girls could leave as well as not to make some visits; we find it pleasant to have them here, as well as profitable to the children; they are pious girls, highly educated & refined sincere & loving. you would like them much. they have an excellent mother ( the doctor's standard. their father is an old college friend of Dr. Pomroy. Dr. Converse (brother of the former wife) has been here a week, gone or more to Boston to buy goods; has left his little daughter 13 years old, to stay till he returns. He is from Princeton Illinois, quite wealthy, an excellent man. we visited him last fall. Besides those, it happened that Mr. & Mrs. Hopkins came here to stay a few days when | ||
