are seconded & strengthened by similar conviction strongly felt on his part. Every thing has been made smooth & easy - the path plain - Mr & Mrs Hopkins have been noble friends, Emily Coleman too has been a comfort support & assistance greater than I can express: it has been a trying time - much to think of - much to do. Went to Cleveland a week ago last Friday purchased a silk for $20, a pin $5 half under sleeves gloves &c Mrs. Hopkins fitted my dress, I made it last week: it fits finely; looks well: I will send a piece of it. I purchased too a plain white Dunstable stole trimmed with rich white ribbon, & mean to take my new lemon colored crepe one out to Antoinette. I have finished embroidering that cap that Lucy knows of, it looks beautifully. My new silk is not however to be the wedding dress, for we are to 'stand up' in travelling equipments - my lavender all wool de laine will serve my purpose with handsome weight undersleeves white gloves &c The cape Mrs. H has procured to be made here, 12 pounds at $3,00: Cards are already directed to Bangor Milo &c to be mailed tomorrow. I have received some elegant presents of jewelry which is more worn here than in New Eng. a real diamond ring perfectly beautiful; a locket for daguerretypes with splendid chain while a rich waist pin to fasten it with. I hardly know how I shall wear so much, but it is his choice to have rich articles of that kind: he bears a diamond pin & elegant watch finery though far enough from being show in appointments
