One of the boys yesterday at school presented me with a young tame mouse - he is just about as large as my thumb and is perfectly white: these white mice (exotics) are kept and reared by some about here in cages like canaries - you never saw any more cunning than it is taking it's food in its fore paws to nibble it, and washing its face like a cat, it looks just like a Lilliputian pig being not so long as my thumb, and rarely larger round. It has afforded us a deal of amusement - school does not keep the rest of the week after Christmas so I am having quite a nice time 'alone in our chambers! - Mrs W. says my attention and management of my mouse proves to her that I should make an excellent mother to some widowers children' --It is a bright bright day, rare enough in this region, neither windy nor cold and fine sleighing the sky clear and blue: I intend to unite to Eliab this P.M if not interrupted by company. If I must tell you that we were invited out to breakfast Christmas, and accepted it, when I am quite intimate w. E.Coleman
