Last week Saturday I did not get any letter from you; but on Tuesday Aug. 1st before I went North I did, your good letter of July 19th or 20th, written soon after you reached Dunbardon, and which I was anxious to get to learn of your prosperous journey & safe arrival at Dunbarton.
Last week Saturday I did not get any letter from you; but on Tuesday Aug. 1st before I went North I did, your good letter of July 19th or 20th, written soon after you reached Dunbardon, and which I was anxious to get to learn of your prosperous journey & safe arrival at Dunbarton. I had before got a letter from Eliah mentioning that you had left Bangor. By Tuesday mail also I got a nice letter from Lucy with a little one from Maria also. I had slight hopes to get another from you today; but got no letter at all: though a fine lot of Newspapers including the Independent & a Congregational Herald.
By the way does Putnam's Monthly come to Dunbarton regularly? It should. I am much obliged to you for your account of all your journey [[etc]] I can realize all about you much better for your writing the particulars. Keep doing so. I am glad you went to Old Town Sc. I am glad you got Mayo vaccinated--hope it took well, and was good. I am anxious to hear from it again.
I expect you are likely to be disappointed of your visit at Dunbarton from the Deloittts. Lucky & Maria wrote that they had reckoned up their spendings, & found them $500.00; and as they had had part of a chance to visit you at Bangor [[etc]] they were about regretfully concluding to hasten home without going to Dunbarton at all.
Ettie--dearest Ettie--I would not keep [[Salsa?]] at any rate if she does not suit you. I did not think so much of it before. But from what Mother & Lucy & Maria all write--you have not written me enough about her it is plain that she is a trouble to you. I judge she is not pleasant even, or really good to Mayo. I expect
