You speak of Winter here as necessarily very dreary I have enjoyed it very much. My health has been excellent, and growing better & better. My business has been pleasant. I enjoy the riding very much and my horse never gets sloughed. By the way, I must tell you of my horse. I have bought a young horse that pleases me very much. Very high spirited, but king, gentle, generous and courageous, and very playful. I love the fellow much. And I love to ride horseback. As for staying here, I suppose I am pretty well established in it. I can doubtless do better here than elsewhere and can now have really a very comfortable place here. My headquarters and place of abode at Jonesboro, about the most pleasant place all things considered in the Southern part of the State. I had the choice to go into the Northern or central part of the State, but preferred to stay here. I believe this is really the healthiest country and the country here is much better for my permanent interest as I think. My pay is not bad at any rate I can lay up $1000.00 per annum clear of all expenses, which is not bad for a young man in any professury? It is uncertain whether I could do as well any where else. I do not fear the Ague. It is bad and fearful disease only because neglected. It is harmless and soon more? under control than almost anything else. My this sheet is almost filled, and I shall get to bed before eleven. I am inclined to think you had better quit teaching and go to Bangor & Milo and enjoy yourself. What do I think of Kossuth. I think he is almost immeasuraly the greatest Man in the World Eljen Kossuth! Sincerely I.S.
