three days, they bought some the other day, that looked very nice, stamped in little nice table lumps, it was so yellow Mrs. W. was afraid it was coloured, it is not so nice butter as yours, they paid a shilling. If you can spare any, the sooner you can get it here the better. I need a little money to spend very much shall have to take up the $20 I am afraid, which is all my dependence for going to Boston next fall, as it will take all of this terms' wages I expect to pay board for myself and L. though I guess they will be very reasonable, L, does her own washing & ironing and make herself handy. If you can spare a well as not not butter enough to come to two or three dollars and send it down soon, it would get a chest jacket for Isaac and furnish me with what I want, so that I need not take up my order: I am afraid too much of it would be spent if I have it, by me, and then the interest on it will be, 60 if I let it be, which is not to despised, these hard times. My stock of money now on hand is 4 cents which I am going to spend tomorrow. I can get along without any thing more but a pair of shoes I think. I have got for my bonnet a rich looking figured white ribbon, for, 20 per yard, put it round plain without bows, and it looks sweetly. Lucy's was a shilling. I have written a long letter to Almeda and sent about a fortnight ago. Isaac's jacket has got a little hole in the elbow and no pieces to mend it, I am going to darn it up, and want you should send some like it. James W. is a dapper little fellow lively as a cricket and good natured as a kitten, he cannot appear any better so well in company as Isaac can, but is prompt, shrewd and agreeable and appears to know much more than he does & will make his way well in the world: he is boxing about at a great rate in the garden & about and I guess Mr. W think he would get along just as well without Isaac though they are willing and expect him to stay till his term is out, I sometimes worry for fear Isaac does not do all he can though perhaps without reason, I should think it would be well for him to stay and work for Mr. Walker all the time next vacation, so as to stay the term after, before time to start school, he will not get such a chance as this again and had better have it as long as he can.
