Dear brother,

Since my last to you I have received two good letters from you for which I am much obliged. I am truly glad to hear of the prosperous and desirable situation in which Providence has placed you. I do hope you will not by any circumstances be led to overtax the system to endanger your health - do not reckon too much on your strength and good constitution, - dear Joseph's case ought to be a warning to you and Eliab. There is not in my mind the shadow of a doubt of the cause of his present condition: his bent of purpose, ambition, and strength of resolution and will, led him to overtax his energies, both physical and mental: - regrets are vain, but warnings are not, if heeded in time.
I am on the eve of starting for home, should have taken a boat yesterday had one passed, shall wait till next Mond. morn, so as not to be out over the Sabbath; my intention is to stop at Erie and spend the Sabbath at Westfield N. Y. instead of Buffalo as a hotel: - have been invited to do it by an acquaintance living there whose brother is going to Boston, so I should have company all the way from there; As soon as I ascertain what day I shall reach Boston, I will mail this, so that if you can possibly get away, you can jump on to the cars and meet me at Boston. I shall doubtless stop there a few days
