[at top]: Mehitable ? What are you going to have for Thanksgiving? Wish you had one of our turkeys! Perhaps Father will come down with a load if it is good sleighing, though I should judge from the sounds now issuing from the viol that whoever made them would not be able to go out again very soon. How does John prosper in his school? I feel very anxious for him I have not yet forgotten the first school I taught though I trust he is more pleasantly situated, you must give him all the good advice you can?
[at bottom]: Mother is yet quite lame I cannot see that she has gained any for the last three weeks she has a bed in the kitchen, the baby couldn't sleep upstairs this winter. What about David Copperfield? Has it all been published? I think you cannot in good conscience ask me to write another letter for at least one month When are you coming to Milo? Is Samuel going into the woods this winter
[at bottom - upside down]: Monday. it was cold and blustering yesterday; very few out to meeting Think Mr Pattridge will be liked very well, shall expect a letter from Leuey? soon as she is able to write, Sis Bell
[on right side]: This is horrid writing but I trust you will peruse it, I have been knitting some of the queerest looking stockings you ever saw - don't know that is very closely connected with the subject, but the stockings are not as closely knit - give my love to Margrett, and to Ann, want to see her.
