Remarks Old Fort Fillmore used to be a very fine place, but was abandoned at the beginning of the war; the buildings are in ruins, two or three of them occupied by mexicans. _ The road is very dusty, sandy and? somewhat hilly. Water in the waterholes, which are in a dry creek-bek. Grazing very poor, rough salt-grass; wood scarce.
Camp near Cottonwood Forage Agency ( New-Mexico); there is wood, grazing fair and? water in the waterhole. The first part of the road is good rough, the latter part good but dusty. _ Mesquite? country. _ The water is good, said to be permanent; no grazing of any account, Mesquite? country, undulating and in some places sandy. _ Camped near the river on the road, which branches to the left; the right hand road does not go near the water, but is the most direct one; _ roads good.
