Oct. 14.  Went to [[unclear]] with Mr & Mrs Paddock with whom I now board and expect to during the winter.  Called on a Mrs. Prescott who formerly lived in Epsom and knew my parents.  She said Mr. Perkins. Nicholas called on her the day previous and has not yet left town  I did not have an opportunity to see them.

17, Sab.  attended AM and afternoon service. No Sermon in forenoon - enjoyed  the day much - I meet some little perplexities here which I has not thought of before. hope my stay here will be of great benefit.  I think a person who is in the service of the public mass be ready for encounters not by little troubles & it may be some severe trials, but God is a present help.  He is able and willing.

21 commenced school with seven scholars
22 Had 8 pupils to day.  Last Wednesday had a chill, and to day a slight one.
Nov 7 - Sat. went to [[unclear line]] Goodly - text  - Behold I bring you glad tidings &c  Mr Porter  PM  Nickhols - very well all was solemn & impressive
