Dear Sister Nettie, your last letter furnished us quite a stream of conversation you truly had a narrow escape from a dreadful death; we much admire the presence of mind shown by the girl; many would have screamed helplessly round the house but she seemed to do just the best thing possible. Did it not make you sick ? and have you got well over it ? I am very glad your situation is in general so pleasant. The reason I should judge is not so favorable for health or enjoyment as usual is that climate, here the winter is truly delightful clear, bright days succeeding each other , fine sleighing , the weather just cold enough to be pleasantly exhilarating. there has not been a storm during this month, rarely a cloud in the sky I have enjoyed the winter here for much though chiefly ( unclear ) (unclear ) for having few occasions to call me out, I must plead guilty to having slighted the health infusing borean breezes perhaps. We have quite a home circle here now, Mother myself and Eliab have been the sole occupants for the last week;' Lucy arrived home last eve; she has written you of our flying visit to Milo
