I myself, Lucy, am at present this afternoon feeling better than I did, without hardly knowing why, except that Jane bought me some beautiful young checkerberry leaves, which I have munched with much gusto. Mother and I are having a nice time. I feel sort of selfish and guilty to keep her here away from Josie so long, but I don't want her to go till I get well enough to go with her, which I hope will be soon. Samuel is about concluding to go into the Mill (as ((unclear)) is very anxious to have him, and the prospect of an appointment as surveyor is slight this year) for $40.00 per month, until it starts by might, and after that at the old wages. JAne goes to school, has some new books, gets her lessons well, and I guess tries to do her best in school, but is the same noisey fly away thing as ever | I myself, Lucy, am at present this afternoon feeling better than I did, without hardly knowing why, except that Jane bought me some beautiful young checkerberry leaves, which I have munched with much gusto. shoes for Lucy. Samuel has spoken with Mr Cutts about carrying up the students. He will carry for a dollar a trip (he said he'd give 2 or 3 dollars besides.) S will pay part of it I guess. Great rain yesterday I'm 'fraid the interval is all flood again, write soon tell me how you all get along-take care of Josie & of Charlie.
