My Dear Children
I will just speak a word or two to tell you that I arrived safely before dark-rather rough, muddy travelling but I was not very indeed tird found Lucy-getting better she ways-but she is rather slim.  She rode out a little way today tho' she cannot sit up more than an hour at a time she has been very sick-but begin to have a little appetite now-she thinks she shall soon be considerably better-she probably took cold and she has worked too hard & I don't believe  she will be so well as she was before for some time-Sam'l got a skien of black worsted for card & four tassels for the pall cloth-at 1/apiece the skien, 10 cents I don't think it will take near all the worsted if there is enough left  to ((unclear)) for the change I'll take it-if they wish.
