day cool and clear. passed through Walaga, and while crossing the Rail Road 4 miles beyond, about noon. we broke our wagon Axle, this Axle had been broken before in mich and badly welded. A Black Smith shop was close by and we spent 3 hours getting it welded again

We started again and after going 2 miles one of Mr Hungerfords oxen got scared while crossing a culvert, gave a jump and fell dead, we supposed from a Ruptured Blood Vessel.

We took of the Hide, went one mile farther and camped at a very fine Farm House owned by a man by the name of Franham, within a mile of Galesburg. Traveled 9 miles
