this church is very beautiful though not so gaudy as many you see; the tomb of St. Anthony is surrounded by silver & gilted gold lamps which are burning constantly there are also 2 immense candlesticks of silver one weighing 1607, the other 1450, each supported by beautiful marble cherubs they were indeed very pretty by the side of the high altar is a beautiful great candelabrum of bronze executed by Andrea Riccio, ten years of his labour were bestowed there are very pretty [[ornaments?]] here also--after to Santa Cristina but it was too dark to see anything; in going there we saw a very pretty public walk surrounded by statues of Generals, bishops etc then to the Hotel--we passed by the beautiful Cafe Pedrocchi--had dinner & very nice rooms. Tuesday--25th--Ferrara--Left Padua during the rain at 8 oclock and arrived at Ferrara at 7 oclock after having been detained first in crossing the Adige, a short time, & then the Po, by which we lost an hour we crossed these rivvers in ferry boats &
