You wish to know my opinion of Mr Curtis & no man is perfect, we all have our shortcomings, people living in a community stronly & powerfully operated upon by purty feelings and prejudice view these shortcomings very differ- ently in those who sympathize with us, from those whose sympathy crops our path - Mr Curtis is aa man of talent, a man of much energy of character, he is very much respected by his Church in Chicago, is conservative in his feelings and I have no doubt would make himself quite acceptable in Galesbury had it not been for purty feeling which so lamentably prevails, those teachers who have not rendered them- selves particularly obnoxious by their previous course I think need be under no apprehension that thro' the agency of Mr C they will be dis- placed on account of their being Congregationalists.
