I Recd a Letter[[damaged]]  your Behalf Dated the 1st Oct (suppose it should be the 1st Novr) Respecting Hatts -  - he Desires me to Procure Two thousand Felt in the Whole & have them bound & have a Pewter Button - As part of them is gone forward shoud think the Whole had Better be Bound at Middletown if agreable to you

I have signed for one thousand of the Felt & fear some of them that I havt paid for may fail as the price has Risen - am afraid I shall be obligd to go as high as Twenty dollars for some to make up the Two thousand - the Beaver & Castors will be higher than those I sent forward - Mr  Hubbard Desired me to get Twice as many of Beaver & Castors as what I had sent on - which will be Six dozen of Beaver & Eight dozen of Castors Besides what I have sent - I Cant get any Credit after the Hatts are made unless I Pay the [[?]] of the Price which I am loth to Engage as I think the Felt in Particular will be thirty dollar soon as the Price of Wool has got to 48/ in Boston when our Hatters get [[their stock?]]  Wool was only four & five Dollar when I Engaged the [[fist?]] Hatts -  I will do the Best I Can & Must Beg your answer as soon as may be - if you have got a Supply of money from Congress or any other way I shall know what to Depend on - but there is no Dependance on Pay Table Orders to be Collected of the Constables I have not yet [[?]] but [[?]] - one third Part on the Orders you sent me - the Whole I [[Expected?]] the [[first?]] of this Month, when I shall get the Rest God only Knows - am Dr Sir your
