  Remsen Aug. 21, 1885.

My dear Nephew,

I intend going to the village in the morning to see Rev. Ed. Davies and write this to take to the mail. Anna says your morning to write home every week and when she told me she wondered whether you would be so faithful I said if we write, he will I think. So tho' I am tired I will not let this oppertunity slip. Mr. Owen, the printer is sick with typhoid fever and Mr. Davies is troubled about the setting of the of the Cenhadwr so he asked David Price to see if I could help a little with it. I am therefore going to try if it does not rain in the morning I meant to write but it got too late. It was such a bright fair day yesterday that I was tempted and did a large washing. Today I ironed. Anna began a little hour cleaning today. She looked over several cups from our bedroom clothespress and she said I wish John Eddie could be home a week more we would make quick work house cleaning. But we must do the best we can. I enjoy feeding and caring for the hens, but it seems most too confining for them these warm days - I knocked off the board from above the door of the chickery today - there are slats across and that will give them more light and air
