Thursday, 16. Nothing new today. Kept quiet during the day. Fanny Bullitt returned and Boat landed inquiring for Gnl Grant. Had an alarm at night the picket firing & the men in camp were turned out under arms. Done in good time and in good order.

Friday, 17. Gnl Crocker & [unclear] called to day and we got papers of 14th Memphis. Nothing new occurred during the day. At night recd a note from Col Shepherd directing me to call on him & he complained of me for disobedience of a certain order. Had a lively time but [[heated]] about us we begun.
