Teusday Oct 6th 1874 - Louisville
[[note top left:  Shoes, X ]]  Teusday Oct 6th 1874 - [[note top right:  (Louisville]]  To day is cloudy. yesterday was beautiful. Hunt gone riding with Miss Mary Goodloe spent day with us. and her two daughters, they nearly grown. Lillie 13. and Lullu 12. They go to Mrs Knowles, school.  We drove to the House of refuge. and went all through the school rooms and grounds. if looks in fine order, I went to the Exhibition and took Hunt all Mrs Shreve,s children Mrs Shreve James and Mattie Faulds. We stayed until three o clock, saw everything they had side shows which pleased very much. The exhibition is very fine, Mrs Chas Johnson and Mrs Buevn of New York made me a long visit  Wednesday Oct 7th 1874To day is cloudy but coo, all of us well.  My sister Virginia is quite unwell. all the rest are doing well.  Mr. Hunt & Lizzie called to see mein the afternoon Mr Hunt I called on Mrs L Johnson and Mrs Robert Tyler but did not see them. Mrs Fred Grants cards and Miss Honore arrived to day.  I rode with Miss Delany.  To night we go to the German Opera and saw Stradella. The music was good Thursday Oct 8th 1874. This is a bright sunny day all well but Virginia she is a great invalid, after breakfast I called to see Dr Hulcee 105 Jefferson Street. he was out. Miss Sallie Shreve called to see me so did Miss Gordon. I bought a new pair of shoes for Hunt. When we got home Dr Hulcee called and he was glad to see us. We took dinner and at two o. clock we started for the Depot. My sisters, two carriages were at the door. and all went to the Cars with us. My Father came down too. Sister Belle sent boxes of candy to my boys and Grandma sent them money. We said good bye and departed Mattie Faulds and James wanted very much to return with usFriday Oct 9th 1874We travelled all night delightully. had the drawing room on a Pullman car and had a great deal of attention from Mr Wilson and coloured Charlie Johnson. We reached Chicago at seven o. clock in the morning. Walked from the 22 street Depot up to our house. everything there looks well. found all the family in bed but Sheridan, breakfast was soon ready.

Mrs Fred Bryant called and with Miss Declany.  To night we go to the German Opera and [[unclear]]. The music was good

Miss Lollie Shrone called to see me so did Miss Gordon. I bought a new pair of shoes for Hunt. When we got home Dr Heulcer called and he was glad to see us. We took dinner and at two o clock she strated for the Depot. My sisters two carriages wer at the door and all went to the [[bank?]] with us. My Father came down too.
