On a Sunday, while at Montreal, on my way to the Episcopal Cathedral of Christ's Church, I allowed time for worshiping the celebration of the High [[mass?]] at the Church or Cathedral annexed to the Jesuits College. As I left the building the though in my mind was I should like to as the Priests who have just been officiating, if they have a or can imagine any reasons for behaving, the this Service is either accpetible to God or [[unclear]] to man? In the English Cathedral this Service was very well + impressively read by and elderly clergyman but the young Clergyman who afterwards occupied the Pulpit was far too [[unclear]] acquainted with all that [[happens?]] in the the mind the almighty. Ni man cd be so fully acquainted with what [[happens?]] in the mind of his most familiar friend; hardly with what [[happens?}] in his own mind.

One who has just come from The States may compare the manners + customs of the American travelling public with more of the Canadian.[[unclear]]. The former are very much in advance of the latter. The Canadian Conductor, unlike his brother officer to the south, appears to make no attempt to keep things + persons in order for his general advantage. Any body , however rough, (+ many Canadian travellers are in winter very rough indeed, perhaps because they are lumberers out for a holiday)
