March, TUESDAY, 17. 1863 Quiet pleasant day. The water has been running unclear like a torrent all day & The roar of the current is now distinct. Papers to day but no news of importance. Cannonading was heard last night & rumors are current to day. unclear are coming in to escape the unclear.
WEDNESDAY, 18. Pleasant again. Still no excitement & no news. Read some. played a great deal.
