Friday, February 9. Thawed rapidly today. Some indications of a rain. Have not done so much to day as usual. Patterson has been at work at the books nearly all day & he & Sherman have at length are to an [[amazment?]] for the settling up of their accounts.  [[Rheinart?]] is to be sent for to aid in the matter.  Patterson was out of the firm & to morrow we open new books for the firm of ___ ____  ____ ____ (not yet named)
