who has been quite sick with cold - his own sister is now with her and the girls will feel relieved- Rose is a very fat, big baby sweet & pretty and as good as a baby need be Nicolas is making them a visit now - for rest & quiet - milk and cream and the like country comforts - Annie likes Nicolas very much. they always have merry times - her sister Mahala too is an excellent girl and, at home, fond of fireside jokes- and amusements - Julius & unclear are going to hunt tomorrow- Mr Wills leaves for Washington Monday - Charlotte's health is not good but she works continually in her garden - I think you are mistaken about my diet, health, etc strong, rich diet, does not suit me at all- my disease is of the liver and I suppose it is "appreciated by the warm weather - and I have become so thin & weak that my circulation, never very active, is very slow, and I feel all the changes of cold and wet - I guess I will try a few quinine pills- and plenty of lemons - Romaine sends them to me often. then when I get plenty of fruit - I think I may be better.
