This morning at six o'clock, Mrs. T.T. Shreve, sent her Carriage to the depot, to get Mr. & Mrs. Allan Houston, who have been in Paris Tennessee, to visit their son
Monday, March 25, 1901
Russell Houston. While there they took rooms opposite Russell Cottage. Saturday night at twelve O.clock. Mattie Belle looked out the window and saw Russell in the yard in his night dress and saw smoke coming out of Barn. Mr. Houston and Mattie hurried over, and crowds of people had arrived, they poured on water and saved the house. but the Barn burnt to the ground. a barrel of hot ashes was the cause of the fire, Flora was in bed with a ten days baby, the fright gave her a chill, but she soon was all right again, in the next door house was a very sick lady with a young baby. Mattie looks fine says she left them all right, Russell is the Cashier of the [[blank]] received a lovely letter from Mrs. R. L. Henry. sun is now shining. I had an invitation from Mrs. U.F. Badger to go to a lecture on Animals I declined. Mr. Houston and Allan Jr. gone to play Golf. Mattie Belle Houston gone visiting.
