Went to work in the morning shifting and arranging matters in my room. Sent up to the house & don't know how many pairs of old pants &c. Mak[e] a very decided change for the better though much yet remains to be done. Saw a good many of my old friends in the [[town ofrom ?]] the country. At night called upon Mrs. Chilcote & Mrs. Owen. Return early. Holden come back to day & it seems like old times to meet so many of them I have before known so familiarly.
