I was requested some time since by my intimate friend, Mr [[unclear, "Key" perhaps?]], to write a history of my somewhat eventful life.  But - being at that time [[continrely?]] carried around by my Master, I had no opportunity to do so. I had been endeavoring for some time to release myself from my Master's neck and was much rejoiced one [[morning?]] when he left the room in which he had been sitting and laid me on the table, where there was a pen, a piece of paper and some ink. I soon availed myself of the opportunity of writing the following account of my life which I now give in precisely the same words as it was then writen. The first thing that I can recollect was bing taken up from a desk where I had been sleeping during the night by a lady who told me she was going to make a present of me to her
